 IFDA TAKE A SEAT event

 glimpse of more designers

refurbishing a chair for the charity auction on May 16
in New York City.

With 24 artists & designers  

and two celebrations (a sneak preview at TOTO on May 7,

then a gala and auction at

the expansive Lillian August Showroom in NYC on May 16) 
the event is turning into quite an extravaganza.

Jamie Drake, FASID will host the celebration
at Lillian August's downtown NYC showroom, 
then auction these lovely chairs.  

Proceeds will be
donated to benefit both Hurricane Sandy and Japan's Tsunami victims.

11. Sarah Sarna and Tina Ramchandani
Sarah and Tina are Manhattan-based interior designers and the respective voices behind Life The Life You Dream About 
and 
Life in Sketch

For their chair refurbishment, the desingers found a sleek, curvilinear, vintage-1970s-style chair, generously donated by Donghia New York, with labor donated by Home Interiors by Anthony Giaramita. 
Together, they will utilize posh patterns and prints for a finished chair inspired by chic city living. 

10. Irwin Feld
Creative Director/Owner, Irwin Feld, Fairfield County's largest Mid century furniture, 
lighting and art shop; and CF Modern, American made furniture collection.

Irwin was inspired by their newest four-legged family member and recently departed four legged family member, both named Charlie.  

 Like his predecessor,  he is black with white markings and has a red collar.   Irwin has a vintage chair with amazing potential that he's been saving for a special occasion such as IFDA Take A Seat. 

9. Claudia Giselle

Since graduation from Syracuse University and NY School of Interior Design, Claudia has been busy as the former President of IFDA, and founder of a full service Interior Design firm.  Her chair was inspired by up-cycling trash and raw, ugly materials as a resurrection to angels, Alexander McQueen, haute couture, art, fierce beauty, eroticism, masculinity, femininity, and juxtaposition.

8.  Anna Israel,

 Anna found this delightful chair in Chelsea.  She was attracted to the detailed carvings on the center splat, and appreciates that it is a "fixer upper" with disgusting old fabric.  She drew inspiration from an accumulating pile of random mosaic tile and fabric swatches in her apartment.  She looks forward to celebrating her graduation and end of senior year with this project.

7.Virginia Toledo and Jessica Geller,

Virgina and Jessica sourced their chair at a Fairfield County Habitat for Humanity shop.  It looked rather scary with its dreary fabric, loose legs and undone seams, yet their theme will be Dr. Jekyl and Mrs. Hyde, to showcase how this dark scary chair transforms into a brighter, happier self.
